Puerto Rico Horror Film Fest 2015
A Landmark Year for Horror Culture in Puerto Rico
The 2015 edition of the Puerto Rico Horror Film Fest (PRHFF) marked a defining moment in the evolution of genre cinema on the island, combining a strong international film lineup with groundbreaking cultural initiatives. The festival presented a diverse selection of horror, sci-fi, and cult films, alongside a robust program of short films that highlighted emerging talent from Puerto Rico and beyond.
That year introduced several milestone events that expanded the scope of the festival. PRHFF hosted the first-ever panel with film festival directors in Puerto Rico, creating a space for dialogue among organizers, filmmakers, and industry voices.
It also presented the first Rocky Horror Picture Show event ever held inside a movie theater in Puerto Rico, transforming the screening into a fully interactive experience. Complementing this, the festival featured a dedicated art gallery exhibition, where local artists reimagined the iconic Rocky Horror poster through original works.
In tribute to the legacy of Leonard Nimoy, who passed away that year, the festival also honored the cultural impact of Mr. Spock with a special homage that resonated deeply with fans of science fiction. Through its bold programming and innovative experiences, PRHFF 2015 further established itself as a cultural platform that bridges cinema, art, and community, solidifying its role as a cornerstone of genre film in Puerto Rico.
