Puerto Rico Horror Film Fest 2013
Celebrating Legacy and Expanding the Experience
The 2013 Puerto Rico Horror Film Fest marked a standout year for innovation in genre cinema, headlined by the production and premiere of After Death, a groundbreaking short film promoted as the first ever created by a dead person. Developed through a real séance, the film’s story was dictated to the crew via a medium communicating with the spirit of a deceased woman, generating international media attention and positioning the festival at the forefront of experimental storytelling within the horror genre.
Building on this momentum, the festival continued to expand its identity as a leading genre film event in the Caribbean, presenting a diverse lineup of international and local films. Highlights included a Lifetime Achievement Award honoring actress Tippi Hedren, a celebration of Alfred Hitchcock’s legacy marking the anniversary of The Birds, and the art exhibition El Bizarro, dedicated to the iconic film. Complemented by multidisciplinary talks, themed events, and community initiatives such as the Zombie Walk, the 2013 edition further established the festival as a dynamic cultural platform that blends cinema, innovation, and audience engagement.
