Strengthening International Genre Cinema

The 2009 Puerto Rico Horror Film Fest, held from October 22–28, continued to grow as an international platform for horror, fantasy, and bizarre cinema. The festival presented a diverse program of feature films and short films from around the world, bringing together filmmakers and audiences to celebrate the creativity and global diversity of genre filmmaking.

A key milestone of the 2009 edition was the festival’s integration into the Latin American Alliance of Fantastic Film Festivals, strengthening connections with other genre festivals across the region and expanding opportunities for cultural exchange. The program also included industry seminars and special retrospectives dedicated to classic Mexican horror cinema, further reinforcing the festival’s mission to promote genre film and support the growth of the fantastic film community.
