LUSCA 2025 Closes in Celebration of the Festival’s Largest Edition Yet
An evening of celebration marking the largest edition in the festival’s history
The 19th edition of the LUSCA Film Fest concluded with a spectacular awards ceremony at Caribbean Cinemas Montehiedra, celebrating the excellence of local and international filmmakers. Held from October 16 to 22, this year’s edition featured an extraordinary lineup of 251 projects, including 165 local productions, marking the largest selection in the festival’s 19-year history.
This year’s theme, “Blast from the Past,” infused the festival with a spirit of nostalgia and genre celebration, featuring special screenings of E.T., Gremlins, and The Return of the Living Dead. Immersive experiences such as the Rocky Horror Picture Show: Draglesque Experience, Wicked Sing-Along Celebration, and the Blast from the Past Party turned Montehiedra into a vibrant hub of cinematic energy and creative exchange.
“This has been a landmark year for LUSCA,” said Zoilo Rodríguez, Executive Director and Founder of the festival. “With 251 projects, the largest in our 19-year history, LUSCA continues to be a bridge for creative voices in Puerto Rico and beyond. The diversity of our selection reflects the strength of our industry and the passion of our filmmakers, reaffirming our commitment to showcasing the very best of local and international cinema.”

In addition to its extensive film lineup, LUSCA 2025 hosted more than 15 educational sessions under the LUSCA Campus, offering free seminars on marketing, production, music, distribution, and legal aspects of the film industry. Complementing the screenings were the Artist Alley and VIP Lounge, fostering networking and collaboration among filmmakers and artists.
The 19th edition of LUSCA Film Fest celebrated the expanding influence of Puerto Rican cinema and reaffirmed the festival’s role as a driving force for Caribbean and Latin voices on the international stage.

Una noche de celebración marcó la edición más grande en la historia de LUSCA
La decimonovena edición del LUSCA Film Fest concluyó con una espectacular ceremonia de premiación en Caribbean Cinemas Montehiedra, celebrando la excelencia del cine local e internacional. Celebrado del 16 al 22 de octubre, el festival presentó una cartelera extraordinaria de 251 proyectos, incluyendo 165 producciones locales, marcando la selección más grande en los 19 años de historia del evento.
El tema de este año, “Blast from the Past”, llenó el festival con un espíritu de nostalgia y celebración del cine de género, con funciones especiales de E.T., Gremlins y The Return of the Living Dead. Experiencias inmersivas como el Rocky Horror Picture Show: Draglesque Experience, el Wicked Sing-Along Celebration y la fiesta temática Blast from the Past Party transformaron Montehiedra en un vibrante centro de energía cinematográfica e intercambio creativo.
