Set in South Korea during a brutal 2010 foot-and-mouth disease epidemic, the story follows two diametrically opposed, surreal destinies. "H", a pig who miraculously manages to survive a horrific mass culling pit, decides he wants to give everything he has to become a human solely to survive. Meanwhile, Choi Jeong-seok, a young soldier pushed to a psychological breaking point by severe, constant torment from his army superiors, snaps, kills an officer, and deserts into the mountains. Desperate to escape his human complexities, he dreams of giving up everything to become a beast. As their paths cross in the forest alongside a herd of starving wild boars, a dark and hard-boiled existential hellscape unfolds where humans become monsters and animals strive for humanity.
